Obituary

Duane Ray Robus was born April 12, 1944, to Norman Hall and Jeanette Wilhelmina (Bogaards) Robus in Pella, Iowa. He passed away peacefully on May 14, 2016, at the Comfort House in Pella.

Duane was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Pella. He was a 1962 graduate of Pella Community High School. Duane was united in marriage to Betty Ann Vanden Berg on December 27, 1967 in Leighton. To this union they were blessed with one child Amy Lynn. Throughout his career, Duane worked for Vermeer, U.S. Mapping Agency in Maryland, and retired from Pella Corp. On April 12, 1988, he wed Arloween Rimanthe.

Duane had many hobbies and claimed to be Pella's best bargain hunter. He enjoyed golfing and even got a hole-in-one! Duane also had a wonderful sense of humor. Duane was a sports fanatic, no matter what was on, and he especially loved his Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved to work in his yard and travel the world, but always made time to spend with others. He enjoyed having coffee-time at In't Velds and Happy Joes, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and nieces.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Amy Wells and Chris Becker of LeClaire; his four grandchildren: Dylan Scott Van Kooten, Jordan Bryce Van Kooten, Madison Lynn Wells, and Alex Ryan Wells; brother Kenneth and Pam Robus of Oskaloosa, and sister Connie and David Milligan of Pella, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice Arlene Roose, and Amy's mother Betty.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
