Edwin Eugene Jansen was born on January 10, 1947, to Jake and Adriana Vos Jansen. He went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of sixty-seven.

Ed grew up in the Sully area, attended Sully Christian Schools and then Pella Christian Schools. After his schooling, he helped on the family farm and worked at Vander Ploeg Bakery. Ed served his country in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam era.

Ed was united in marriage with Carol Goodyk on September 20, 1968, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. They were blessed with two children: Jeff and Christy. After marriage, Ed was employed at Boomsma's, Stursma Insulation, and Scheibout Tire. He retired in 2012 but continued working part-time at Co-Line.

He was a faithful member of the Heartland Reformed Church in Pella where he sang in the church choir. He was a board member of the Pella Golf and Country Club, and also served on the grounds committee. Ed enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Those honoring his memory are: his wife, Carol, of Pella; his two children and their families: Jeff and Kim Jansen of Clive, Iowa, and their children, Bailey and Gabe, Christy and Lucas Van Wyk of Pella and their two children, Troy and Elijah. He is also survived by his siblings: Joyce (Bruce) Nikkel of Pella, Roger (Jeanette) Jansen of Pella, Duane (Linda) Jansen of Golden, Colorado, Bev (Jim) Tierney of Carroll, Iowa, Bryce (Chris) Jansen of Stigler, Oklahoma; and his step-siblings.

Those preceding him in death are: his parents; step-mother, Esther Van Waardhuizen Jansen; father-in-law, Case Goodyk; brother-in-law, Larry Kooistra; and sister-in-law, Karen Jansen.
