Obituary

Edith Ann Oltmann was born November 19, 1936, to Alfred and Anna (Voigts) Heuer, in Greene, Iowa. Edie attended Brushy Mound Country School, was a 1956 graduate of Bristow High School and attended Allen School of Nursing.

On September 7, 1958, she was united in marriage to Wendell Oltmann at St. John's Lutheran Church Vilmar in Greene, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with three daughters: Cindy, Cathy and Cara.

Edie was a registered nurse for 42 years, before retiring in 2000. She worked at Allen Hospital, in a physician's office and Cedar Valley Hospice. Throughout her career she was given many awards: Humanitarian Award, Associate of the Year, Iowa Council of Nurse Managers, and Cedar Valley Hospice Honors. Edie was active in the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, where she was the parish nurse, coordinated Mom's Club, and a member of the Martha Circle. She was also a 4-H Leader in Black Hawk County. Edie enjoyed doing volunteer work in Pella, where she served many groups: Pella Community Food Shelf, Quilts of Valor for the Pella Quilt Guild, and Pella Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Pella where she served in Caring Visitors, Fellowship Committee, the Blood Drive Committee, Morning Bible Study, Noon Bible Study and served as a Caring Adult.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Wendell, and their family:

She is also survived by her sisters: Jan Loyson of Norwalk, Iowa, and Joyce Thomas of Des Moines, Iowa; and her brother Don Heuer of Aplington, Iowa. Many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Edith was preceded in death by her daughter Cara, her parents, her sister Mary Roark, and her brothers-in-law: El Roark, Terry Oltmann, and Carei Thomas.
