Edith Van
Wyk
June 23, 1926 – April 18, 2022
Edith Johanna Van Wyk was born June 23, 1926, to John and Muriel (Sytsma) Kamerick, in Pella. She was raised in the Pella area and attended Porterville country school through eighth grade. As a young girl Edith cleaned house for a neighbor.
On March 19, 1948, she was united in marriage to David John Van Wyk in Pella. After their marriage they rented a farm by Galesburg, and moved to Sully. They were blessed with three children: Gayle, Kathy and Dean. In 1962, they purchased the family farm and continued to farm there until they retired in 1995. They moved to Sully in 2002, and to Grinnell in 2008. In addition to being a farm wife, Edith worked for the Overall Factory and Pella Corp. Edith enjoyed embroidery and gardening. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sully.
Edith is survived by her children: Gayle and Burley Harmon of Sully, Kathy Van Wyhe of Sully, and Dean and Vicki Van Wyk of New Sharon; 4 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband David J. Van Wyk, her parents John and Muriel Kamerick, her brothers: Don Kamerick, Arnold Kamerick, Murray Kamerick, and Golmore Kamerick, and her sister Mary Lou De Vries.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Care Initiatives Hospice - Cedar Rapids.
