Edwin James Meinders was born October 22, 1949, to Everett and Gertrude (Van Gorp) Meinders in Mahaska County, Iowa.
Ed lived in Leighton, Iowa, his whole life. He attended Pella Christian Grade School and was a 1967 graduate of Pella Christian High School.
On July 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to Martha Klyn at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. To this union they were blessed with three children: Jonie, James, and Jonathan.
Ed worked for Rolscreen (now known as Pella Corp.) for 43 years, and most recently as a courtesy driver for Ulrich Motors. He was a member of the Iowa Air National Guard. Ed loved to spend time outdoors. His favorite past-times were hunting, fishing, or tramping through the countryside.
Ed was a member of Leighton Christian Reformed Church where he served as an elder, was a Sunday school teacher, led Bible studies and was active in New Life Prison Ministry.
Ed is survived by his wife Martha and their family:

He is also survived by his sisters: Wilma (Eldon) Vander Berg and Joyce (Ken) Slagter, sister-in-law Mary Groenendyk, and siblings-in-law: Gary (Mary) Klyn, Alvin (Verna) Klyn, and Linda (Craig) McCreery.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Gertrude Meinders, brother Nick Meinders, and parents-in-law Gerald and Margaret Klyn.
