Elizabeth "Liz" Marie De Jong was born October 24, 1925 to Floris J. and Agnes (Huyser) De Jong in Sully, Iowa. She passed away April 20, 2016 at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa.

Liz attended Chester School in rural Jasper County, graduated from Sully High School and attended William Penn for Teacher's Training. She married Ivan Brandt Renaud on June 6, 1946 in Sully where they made their home. To this union they were blessed with four children: Lanson, Kevin, Karna and Lorna. They were members of Those Gathered to the Name of the Lord south of Sully. They later moved to Pella where Liz was a cook for the Pella Early Learning Center. She was also a member of the U & I Club, Iowa Ceramics Association and was a 4-H Leader for ten years. She was honored by the Community Center for her years of service. Liz had many talents which were teaching ceramics and crocheting; she made each child, grandchild and great-grandchild an afghan for a total of 39. She also enjoyed knitting and made a blanket for 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they were born.
