Elizabeth Pearl Menninga Van Dusseldorp was born September 26, 1925, to Gysbert and Ethel Van Engelenhoven Menninga. She grew up on the same family farm in Marion County, Iowa, where she was born. Elizabeth graduated from the eighth grade at the Valley View School.

On April 23, 1948, Elizabeth married Gerald M. Van Dusseldorp in Otley, Iowa. To this union, four children were born: Eugene, Bruce, Dennis, and Peggy. Elizabeth and Gerald were involved in farming, and Elizabeth worked alongside her husband in addition to being a homemaker. Gerald passed away on January 2, 1996.

Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and playing cards. Many of the Christmas gifts she gave were things that she had crocheted. She also worked at the Village Cleaners in Knoxville and later worked for many years at the Town Crier in Pella, retiring from there in 2009.

Elizabeth and Gerald were members of the First Reformed Church in Knoxville for many years, and later they were members of Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, where Elizabeth was active in the Hope Circle.

Elizabeth passed away on February 16, 2013, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Those left to cherish her memory are the following: son Eugene of Englewood, Colorado; son Bruce and Maggie of Denver, Colorado; son Dennis and Laura of Pella, Iowa; and daughter Peggy and Carrol Coulson of Iowa Falls, Iowa. These eleven grandchildren also survive: Sunnie (Lance) Palmitier, Shannon Sears, Jody Van Dusseldorp, Daniel (Julie) Van Dusseldorp, Nathan (Trish) Van Dusseldorp, Jeremy (Lindsay) Van Dusseldorp, Shelly (Scott) Guiter, Michael (Danette) Van Dusseldorp, Rachel (Jake) Willoughby, Josh (Kristin) Coulson, and Jacob Coulson. Elizabeth also leaves nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and the following brothers and sisters: Kathryn Braafhart, Bernie Menninga, Clarence (Irene) Menninga, Alvin (Leanne) Menninga, Gys (Sylvia) Menninga, Arlan (Joann) Menninga, Larry (Mary Jo) Menninga, Phyllis (Ray) Klapwyk, and Jean Menninga.

In addition to her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, by her brother Setrith, by her brother-in-law Nick Braafhart, and by her sister-in-law Grace Menninga.
