Erma Jean Vos was born August 12, 1935, to Cornie and Henrietta (Swank) Vos, at their home north of Sully.

Erma attended the American School of Correspondence, Reformed Bible College, University of New Mexico, Nova University, Oglala Lakota College in South Dakota, and the University of South Dakota, studying special education and early childhood education. She was an outreach worker from 1964 – 1979, in early childhood education missions, she also worked for the Christian Reformed Board of Home Missions, and Shannon County Schools. Erma was a member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church, Mission Circle, and Thursday Night Alive.

Those left to cherish her memory are her twin sister Elva Vos, her sister-in-law: Mavis Vos, eleven nieces and nephews and their families, and a host of relatives and friends.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents: Cornie and Henrietta Vos, her brothers: Wilbur (Cornelia) Vos, Melvin (Lorraine) Vos and Ivan Vos.
