Esther L. Miller was born in Searsboro, Iowa, on April 7, 1923, to Clyde and Marie (Tish) Miller. She died on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Skiff Medical Center of Newton. Esther attended grade school in Searsboro and was a 1940 graduate of Kellogg High School.

On August 30, 1940, she wed Owen W. Barr in Lancaster, Missouri. To this union they were blessed with three children: James Owen, Ronald Eugene, and Lavon Marie. Throughout her life, Esther was a farm wife, worked at the Nelson Manor for five years and the Newton School for eleven years before retiring in 1993.

Those left to honor her memory are her sons James of Reasnor, Iowa and Ronald of Page, Arizona; seven grandchildren: Shawn, Kimberley, Rebecca, Jennifer, Christy, Heidi, and John; three step-grandchildren: Joni, Lisa, and Brad; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Those passing before her were: her husband Owen, daughter Lavon Dunkle, and brothers: Lloyd (Bing), Floyd, Claire, and Ivan.

Esther was a devoted wife and mother. She knew Jesus and taught Sunday School in the Methodist church for many years. Esther will be greatly missed.
