Frederick John Westercamp was born on December 28, 1951, to John and Tena Bandstra Westercamp in Mahaska County. Fred received his early education at Peoria Christian School and attended Pella Christian High School for one year. The family then moved to the New Sharon area, and Fred graduated from the New Sharon High School. He later attended college for a short time. Fred became a member of the Iowa National Guard.

On December 29, 1970, Fred was united in marriage with Beverly Jansen. They were blessed with two children: Lori and Jay.

Fred enjoyed farming with his father, hunting, fishing, camping, listening to music, and reading his Bible.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two children and their spouses: Lori and Jason Strunk of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jay and Kellie Westercamp of St. John's, Florida; his four grandchildren: Luke and Lindsey Strunk and Jayden and Trace Westercamp. Also surviving are his siblings: his sister, Anne Mohr, of Fairmont, West Virginia; his brother, Pete Westerkamp and his wife, Nancy, of Pella; and his sister, Loretta Struik and her husband, Marv, of Agra, Kansas.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Jim Mohr.

He will always be remembered as a loving and kind man.
