IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary D.
De Reus
September 14, 1945 – May 19, 2013
Gary Dean De Reus was born on September 14, 1945, to Harold and Winona (Webb) De Reus in Des Moines, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home in Pella at the age of sixty-seven.
In October 1966 Gary served his country in the United States Army stationed in Korea. He was discharged at Fort Hood, Texas, in October 1967.
Gary was united in marriage with Phyllis Rietveld on December 8, 1967, in Otley, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters: Brenda and Michelle.
Gary worked at Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel and later was employed at Vermeer's in Pella. He retired the summer of 2009. He was baptized and made Profession of Faith at the Otley Reformed Church in 1968 and was currently a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Pella.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife Phyllis of Pella; his daughters and their husbands: Brenda and Greg De Jong of Leighton and Michelle and David Vande Voort of Pella; seven grandchildren: Garret, Tucker, Austin, Dillon, and Mason De Jong, Brady and Kennedy Vande Voort; his brother, Ned De Reus; his aunt, Ella De Reus; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
He was a rock for the family, their best friend, a hard worker and will be remembered as a patient, kind, easy-going, ornery family man. Gary enjoyed woodworking, fishing, Western movies, spending time with his grandchildren, and going on drives with Phyllis.
