Gary (Gus) Wayne See was born in Albia, Iowa, on July 15, 1945, to Warren (Bud) and Edna (Harger) See. He grew up in Albia, where he graduated from Albia High School in 1963.

Gary married Nancy Hollingshead on March 27, 1964, at the Methodist Church in Knoxville, Iowa. To this union, four daughters were born: Deb, Jody, Stacy, and Sheri.

Gary, Nancy, and their family moved to Pella in 1975. Gary was employed in maintenance at both Hilltop Manor and at Jefferson Place. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He liked to camp, play cards, and fix cars. He was a jack-of-all-trades, often helping family and friends with his skills. Gary was a family man, always enjoying family trips to Branson and playing with his grandchildren. His family appreciated his good sense of humor.

Gary passed away in Des Moines, Iowa, on March 7, 2014, at the age of 68. Those left to cherish his memory are the following: his wife, Nancy; daughter Deb and Eric Randol of Pella, daughter Jody and Don Kamerick of Knoxville, daughter Stacy and Scott Van Gorp of Pella, daughter Sheri and Justin Stursma of Pella; grandchildren Pete and Hannah Randol, Drew Randol and fiancAC.e Sarah Cade, Matt Kamerick and fiancAC.e Michelle Daniels and their children Kyra, Lainie, and Jude, Brooke Kane, Schyler Kane, Maddison Stursma, Evan Stursma, and Sydney Stursma. Gary is also survived by his brother David (Patty) See of Albia and by his sister Joann (Hollis) Sizemere of Pensacola, Florida. The following in-laws also survive: father-in-law Hubert Hollingshead of Tracy, Danny and Marlys Hollingshead of Tracy, Tish and Ron Cox of Knoxville, and Kathy Cassill of Tracy. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Bob See, Barbara Berry, Correne Blomgren, Patty Colburn, and Dennis See.
