Travis Gene Kamerick was born March 16, 1940, to Reuben and Margaret (De Jong) Kamerick near Otley, Iowa. He attended country school and was a 1959 graduate of Pella Christian High School.

On June 1, 1961, he was united in marriage to Patricia Stursma at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with two sons: Timothy and Daniel.

Gene worked for Rolscreen, now known as Pella Corporation, for more than 50 years!  He started in the factory, went to quality control, the test lab, and then he was a customer service specialist, and travelled all over.

Gene was baptized at the First Christian Reformed Church, where he later served as a Cadet leader, deacon and elder. He was currently a member of Covenant Reformed Church where he served on the building committee. He also served on the board and building committee for Pella Christian Grade School.

Gene volunteered at Legacy Thrift Center where he also served on the board. He was a member of the Red Rock Threshers Tractor Club and loved his John Deere tractor. He enjoyed fishing trips to Lake Michigan and boat rides on the Mississippi River. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife to: Alaska, Russia, Greece, Egypt, Israel, Italy and Europe. He loved spending time with family. He also loved attending all activities for the grandkids.

He is also survived by his brother Louie (Sheryl) Kamerick, and sister-in-law Lillian Van Roekel all of Pella.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings-in-law: Norm Stursma, Don (Alberdeen) Stursma, Marilyn (Vern) De Vries, and his parents-in-law William C. and Leona (Rus) Stursma.
