Obituary

Glen John Vander Werf was born February 5, 1946, to John and Erma (Koopmans) Vander Werf. Known as "Hubcap" from an early age, Glen spent almost his entire life in Pella.

Glen attended Pella High and graduated in 1964. He went on to attend Northwest Missouri State and graduated in 1968 with a degree in Mathematics. He then earned his Master's degree in Mathematics from University of Northern Iowa in 1972. Additionally, he achieved a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering while working at 3M.

On January 17, 1969, he was united in marriage to Linda Hamre in the First Baptist Church of Pella. To this union they were blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Joseph. Glen taught high school math in Melcher-Dallas for six years before working at 3M for 28 years and retiring. After retirement, Glen  taught Pre-Calculus at Central College. He also drove school bus for ten years to fill his time. Glen drove to his grandkids events to watch them participate in their various activities. Glen enjoyed traveling, golfing, and learning new things. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Iowa State Fair. Glen loved spending time with his kids and grandkids more than anything. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church where he served on Consistory and was on the Board of Trustees.
