Glenn E. Van Heukelom was born on May 13, 1938 to Louis and Julia Vander Schaaf Van Heukelom in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of seventy-three.
Glenn graduated from Pella High School with the class of 1956.
Glen met Wanda Van Norden on a blind date and they were united in marriage on July 28, 1959 in Sully, Iowa. They were blessed with seven children: Louie, Donnie, Duane, John, Beth, Dave, and Ruth.
Glenn and Wanda raised their family on the family Century Farm in the Leighton area where they farmed for fifty-five years, retiring in the fall of 2011.
He loved the farm life and also enjoyed traveling, attending racing events, woodworking for his children and grandchildlren. He will be remembered for his laugh, teasing, and always having a smile for his grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife of fifty-two years, Wanda; his seven children; twenty-two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Mary (Carl) Tysseling of Pella; his brother, Lawrence (Lois) Van Heukelom of Des Moines; and three aunts, Alda Mae Hoekstra, Elizabeth Van Zante, and Marge Van Hemert.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
