Obituary

Gorman "Pete" Duane Rozendaal was born February 3, 1931, to Peter and Henrietta "Dolly" (Vander Wilt) Rozendaal, in his parents home in Sully, Iowa.

He attended school through the eighth grade in Sully.  Gorman met LaDonna Schuring who was a waitress at her parents restaurant in Sully. Gorman was demanding to be waited on with a firm fist on the counter. They were united in marriage on August 22, 1952, at the First Reformed Church in Sully.

In his early years Gorman helped his dad with carpenter work.  They built the First Reformed Church in Sully. Then he built his home that he has lived in for 65 years.  Gorman worked for Maytag for 30 years and retired at age 50; he also worked for Sully Telephone, Schmidt Lumberyard, Sully Creamery, and Sully Farm Supply. He had his own business on the side as a Maytag repairman. Three years ago he decided he wanted to go back to work and found a job as a Walmart greeter. He said this was the best job he ever had. His last day there was April 29, 2019. Gorman met a lot of people there and enjoyed every moment.

Some of Gorman's hobbies were collecting Lion's pins, Maytag trucks, and clocks.  He enjoyed gospel songs and  Gaither music, woodworking, camping, and watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports activities. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord and always being friendly and helpful to others.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife LaDonna and their family:
