Grace G. Janssen was born October 22,1933, to John W. and Teuntje "Tena" (Verhey) Vande Kraats, in Pella, Iowa. Grace attended country school northeast of Pella until 6th grade. Early on in life, she helped out on the farm.

On February 12, 1954, she was united in marriage with Gysbert Janssen in Pella, Iowa. Grace was a homemaker who raised six children: Dennis, Carol, Gary, Jerry, Don, and Janet. In her spare time, Grace enjoyed making puzzles and playing bingo. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and going for coffee with Gysbert.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Gysbert, her parents John W. and Teuntje Vande Kraats, parents-in-law Gerrit and Jantje Janssen, her siblings: John Vande Kraats, Roy Vande Kraats, Marie (John) Sullivan and Johanna (James) Kersey, and great granddaughter Addison Grace Noble.
