Obituary

Harold Vander Hart, son of Evert and Anna Brouwer Vander Hart, was born June 30, 1921, in Pella, Iowa. He passed away at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years where he became a resident on February 6, 2007.

Harold received his education in the Pella area schools.

On March 11, 1948, Harold was united in marriage with Gladys Pothoven at the First Reformed Church in Pella. To this union four children were born: Duane, Loren, Sheryl, and Karen. They farmed in the Pella area most of their married life.

Harold served his country in World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella where he served as an Elder for many years. He was a faithful member of the Golden Hour Sunday School Class. Harold blessed many sick and lonely people with his ministry as a Shepherd. He was also a member of the Pella American Legion. Harold enjoyed and loved his family very much. He was known as a "man of prayer."

He is survived by his wife, Gladys, who currently lives in Washington, Iowa; his four children: Duane and Sharon Vander Hart of Pella, Iowa, Loren Vander Hart of Dallas, Texas, Sheryl and Dan Dickinson of Greenfield, Iowa, and Karen and Ron Dillon of West Chester, Iowa; and ten grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, and Andrew Vander Hart, Michelle, Danielle, and Matthew Dickinson, Anne, Beth, John, and Michael Dillon.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Louise Vander Hart; his brother, Marion Vander Hart; and two grandsons, Mark Dickinson on August 10, 1994 and Brian Dillon on February 26, 1998.

Family and friends will continue to cherish the wonderful memories Harold created in his lifetime. He will be missed by the many who knew him.
