Obituary

Harry was born on Halloween in 1919, to Martin and Maggie (Stam) Tibboel. He was their fifth child and was born at home on a farm near Cordova Iowa. Cordova was located south of Monroe where Red Rock Lake is now located.

The Tibboel family moved to a farm in northern Iowa near Kanowa, then by train, to another farm near Menlo, and later to a farm near Monroe where he met Cornelia Verschuure who later became his wife.

Harry and Cornelia were married in 1945 in a double ceremony at the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella along with his cousin Frank Vander Wiel and Cornelia's sister Catherine. Their first home was on a farm near Monroe, and later moved to another farm closer to Pella where they had their first two children, a son, Ronald and a couple years later another son, Keith. They moved to another farm near Runnels where their daughter, Donna, was born.

They moved to Des Moines and Harry started working at the Armstrong Rubber Company, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for 25 years. While their children were growing up, Cornelia worked out of their home in her own business making custom draperies and Harry helped her. After they both retired, they moved to Pella in 1987 and lived there until 2011 when they moved back to Des Moines. Cornelia passed away in September of 2011. They were married for 66 years.

Harry was a man of great faith and was always busy working in and with his church. He was mechanically talented and took great pride in doing a job and doing it well. The last year of his life he enjoyed watching animals and feeding ducks at the park across from his residence. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Along with his three children, Harry is survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sisters: Ann Van Zee of Pella, Cornelia Verschuure of Pella, Margaret (Stan) Mulder of Otley, and his brother, John (Helen) Tibboel of Prairie City.
