Henry Arie Bennink, son of John H. and Carrie Bogaards Bennink, was born June 26, 1916 at the family home near Taintor, Iowa. He passed away Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Oskaloosa Care Center at the age of ninety-three.
Henry attended the Peoria Christian School where he graduated from the eighth grade.
On January 30, 1941, Henry was united in marriage with Bernice Marie Van Dusseldorp at the home of her parents in Olivet, Iowa. To this union three daughters were born: Joyce, Donna, and Sheila. Henry and Bernice enjoyed living on their farm raising their family.
Henry was a member of the Central Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Henry is survived by his wife; his three daughters: Joyce and Wayne Sopher of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Donna and Robert Zugg of New Sharon, Iowa, and Sheila and Joe Whitfield of Washington, Illinois; five grandchildren: Jason and Pam Brown, Steve and Melanie Sopher, Marla and Scott Williams, Michael Whitfield, and Cheri and Duane Helmick; seven great-grandchildren: Austin Williams, Cody Williams, Kristin and Tim Keegel, Mallory Sopher, Marissa Sopher, and Shea Sopher; and step-granddaughter: Shannon Helmick.
He was preceded in death by: his parent's, John and Carrie Bennink; his parents-in-law, William and Rachel Van Dusseldorp; five sisters: Gertrude Bennink, Christina Septer, Gertrude Hoffman, Irene Olsthoorn, and Agnes Bennink; and his only brother, Raymond Bennink.
