Obituary

Henry Schutte was born May 2, 1934, to Albertus and Petronella (Van Harten) Schutte, in Zuidlaren, Drente, The Netherlands.  He passed away at The Comfort House in Pella, Iowa, on May 18, 2019.

Henry attended grade school and barber trade school in the Netherlands. He came to America in 1953, and went to barber school in Des Moines. Henry barbered there with a partner for several years before opening his own shop in Pella.

On March 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Betty Lou Eeling in Nashua, Iowa.  To this union they were blessed with four children:  Tony, Michael, Cyndi, and Rod.

Henry loved people and talking so he was in the right profession. He retired in December of 2018, after 60 years in business. Henry knew no stranger, he was a friend to all who came in contact with him. His family was his greatest treasure and he loved them all dearly.

Henry was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where he was a Cadet leader and a deacon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty and their children: Tony Schutte, Michael Schutte, Cyndi Schutte, and Rod and Kim Schutte, 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, two brothers, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, three brothers, a niece, a nephew and a sister-in-law.
