Janet Menninga Van Waardhuizen, age 90, passed away January 24, 2010, at the Knoxville Hospital. Janet was born on June 20, 1919, to John S. and Margaret Den Burger Menninga in rural Marion County, Iowa, near the Bethel neighborhood. She attended the Battle Ridge country school through the eighth grade.
Janet was united in marriage with Arie Jr. Van Waardhuizen on February 27, 1953, at the parsonage of the First Reformed Church in Pella. To this union, a child was born: Glenda.
Janet was a charter member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella, and was active with the Hope Circle. Before that, she was a member of the First Reformed Church in Pella. Janet enjoyed helping her husband with their grinding business as well as embroidery.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Glenda; her brothers: Vernon and Margaret Menninga of Pella, and Arvin and Betty Menninga of Pella; sister-in-law Ruth and Melvin Dykstra of Otley; brother-in-law Ervin and Carolyn Van Waardhuizen of Kilduff; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in death by her husband Arie on January 30, 1996; her parents; her parents-in-law; sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Swank; and her brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Van Waardhuizen.
