Janice Irene (De Hoedt) Roose was born October 19, 1937, the fourth of six children, to Gerrit and Mattie (Van Wyk) De Hoedt, near Kellogg, Iowa. Irene was baptized and made confession of faith at First Reformed Church in Sully.
Irene attended country schools near Sully. She worked for the Sully Co-op testing cream until she graduated from Sully High School in 1956.
On June 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Wilford Eugene Roose, at the First Reformed Church in Sully. Irene and Wilford joined his sister and family traveling to Los Angeles, California, where Irene worked making appointments for Ross-Loos Medical Group. In 1959, Wilford was called to service in the U.S. Army. After his training, they spent 18 months in Ulm, Germany, and then returned to Iowa, making their home in Pella. They were blessed with two children: Brian Eugene and Susann Marie. Irene worked for Jaarsma Bakery for ten years and as a waitress at Fair Haven in Pella, for ten years. Irene enjoyed her flower garden, walking, reading, and made several quilts for the children. She faithfully attended First Reformed Church in Pella at the time of her death. Irene was a devoted wife and mother.
Irene is survived by her husband Wilford Roose, her son Brian Roose of Pella, and her daughter Susann (Kyle) Light of Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents Gerrit and Mattie De Hoedt, and her siblings: Gerald (Verda) De Hoedt, Richard (Lucy) De Hoedt, Clarence (Jan) De Hoedt, Jacoba (Clyde) Combs, and Gerdena (Merl) Brown.
