Janice Diann Van Zee Vande Voort was born on February 19, 1944, to John E. and Geneva Hubers Van Zee near New Holland, South Dakota. She passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of sixty-nine.

Janice received her early education at the New Holland Christian Schools and graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center and from Central College in Pella.

On June 4, 1965, Janice was united in marriage with Ronald Vande Voort from Sully. They were blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Julie, and Karen. Janice enjoyed her role as a mother and teacher. She taught twenty-two years at Newton Christian School and Peoria Christian School. Janice enjoyed sewing, playing games with the grandkids, handwork, reading, and baking.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ronald; her mother, Geneva Van Zee; her three children and their spouses: Jeffrey and Linda Vande Voort of Waterford, Michigan, Julie and Mark Roose, of Peoria, and Karen and Rick Harrill of Peoria; twelve grandchildren: Calvin, Isaac, and Selah Vande Voort, Trevor, Taylor, Trent, Troy, Luke, and Levi Roose, Amanda, Natalie, and Karson Harrill; brothers: Elwood, Kenneth, Myron Van Zee; sisters: Gloria Slings, Virginia Vermeer, and Joan Jansen.

Preceding her in death were her father, John E. Van Zee, and her in-laws, Everett and Harriet Vande Voort.
