IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Javone
Buseman
August 17, 1929 – October 29, 2025
Javone Edna (Schoneman) Buseman was born on August 17, 1929, in rural Aplington, Iowa, to Folkert and Augusta (Maifield) Schoneman.
Javone grew up on her family farm in Aplington and was a graduate of Aplington High School. After high school, she worked for the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa as a switchboard operator. While making trips home to Aplington, she was introduced to Raymond Buseman. On March 26, 1955, Javone was united in marriage to Raymond in the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Karlyn, Daniel, and LaFonda.
Javone and Raymond made their home in Waterloo, Iowa. There, Javone was a faithful member of the Grace Reformed Church where she was a member of the church choir and taught in children's ministry. Her church family at Grace Reformed Church remained important throughout her life.
In 1985, Raymond and Javone moved to Pella. In Pella, Javone worked at Central College on the facilities crew. She was a member of Third Reformed Church where she and Ray enjoyed the early service.
In Pella, Javone began work in her favorite location, her gardens. Javone's passion was creating beautiful scenes throughout her yard where she could enjoy the beauty of her plants, trees and visiting birds. Javone was an artist with plants and enjoyed yard walks with family and friends to share new plants or new locations for the many plants she propagated.
Ray and Javone were frequent visitors to the surrounding parks where Javone could be seen walking with binoculars to identify birds. Birdwatching became a hobby that she excelled at. She was known to study bird songs, migration patterns, and behaviors. She loved to share her hobby with others, especially her grandchildren. Javone studied wildflowers and could be spotted in ditches and prairies collecting bouquets and an occasional specimen for her garden. Javone enjoyed family fishing trips to Leech Lake in Minnesota throughout her life.
Javone will be remembered as a wonderful mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family will remember her gift of hospitality. She hosted wonderful holiday meals and teatime every afternoon. She had an artist's eye and collected the most beautiful plants and flowerpots. She was a competitive card player, gentle and patient teacher, encourager, and had compassion for people and all of God's creatures.
