IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean A.
Ver Heul
March 22, 1927 – July 2, 2009
Jean Alvin Ver Heul, son of Dick and Jeanette (Synhorst) Ver Heul, was born March 22, 1927, in Pella, Iowa, the oldest of six children. He passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2009, at his home in Pella at the age of eighty-two.
Jean received his education in the Pella Schools, graduating from Pella High School with the class of 1946.
On July 31, 1948, Jean was united in marriage with Wilma Brubaker. The couple lived in Knoxville prior to moving to Pella in 1950. They then farmed near Pella where they raised their two children: Linda and Dan.
Following his retirement from farming, Jean thoroughly enjoyed working at Pella Corporation. Some of Jean's favorite things to do were: traveling, farming with the help of Wilma, gardening, fishing, camping, hunting, reading, watching sports, and listening to music by the Gaithers. He especially enjoyed watching crops grow and loved visiting with family and friends. He was a good storyteller, jokester, and gave good advice.
Jean and Wilma were active members of the First Baptist Church in Pella, Iowa. Due to failing health his Sunday mornings were spent watching Pastor Salem of Aberdeen, South Dakota, on TV.
Jean is survived by his wife, Wilma; his daughter Linda De Haan and her husband Maurice of Pella, Iowa; his son Dan Ver Heul and his wife Mary of Harvey, Iowa; five grandchildren: Ali (Taylor) Sundby of Loveland, Colorado, Nick (Michelle) De Haan of New Sharon, Iowa, Tricia De Haan of Pella, Iowa, Justin Ver Heul and Shera Ver Heul both of Harvey, Iowa; five great-grandchildren: Hailey, Collin, and Brayden Sundby and Micah and Rebecca De Haan; one brother: Dick (Mary) Ver Heul; and two sisters: Arvena (the late Dennis Van Wyk) and Aberlene Kinart.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters: Maryann Ver Heul and Joyce (the late Wallace Van Wyk); and his granddaughter, Emily Ver Heul.
Jean will always be remembered by his family for the loving care and concern he always showed them.
