Jeffrey Lee Groenenboom was born February 26, 1973, in the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He was the oldest of four children of Robert and Linda (Bennink) Groenenboom. Jeff was baptized in the Leighton Christian Reformed Church on April 9, 1973.

While Jeff lived at home for 18 years, he attended Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School. Following his schooling, he went to live at the Christian Opportunity Center for 31 years. During this time, he worked at the workshop where he had many friends. After Jeff had a medical issue, he lived in a nursing home in Altoona for a year.

Next, he lived in The Cottages in Pella. Jeff was a friendly, well-liked person who always said “hi” to everyone he met. He loved dogs, especially Toby. When his dad and mom came to see him, he wanted them to call his sissy (Stacy) so he could talk to her. Jeff would go to the office to see Elaine and tell her to call mom so he could talk to her too. He would watch movies with nurse Mary. Jeff enjoyed many visits from Uncle John and Aunt Leanne; they would push him around in his wheelchair. Jeff wanted everyone to honk their horn when they left - he thought that was funny. Jeff also loved to sing and listen to music.

Jeff passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital at the age of 52. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents Robert and Linda Groenenboom, and his siblings, nieces and nephews:

Jeff is also survived by his aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Irene Bennink and Raymond and Clara Groenenboom.
