Jennie (Kamerick) Bogaards was born February 25, 1928, to Everdena (Schut) and Martenis Kamerick in Pella, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Comfort House in Pella, at the age of eighty-seven. Jennie attended East Amsterdam School near Pella. She was born and raised in the Des Moines river bottom. On March 28, 1946 Jennie was united in marriage with Peter A. Bogaards at the First Christian Reformed Church parsonage in Pella. To this union five children were born: Peter John, June, Randol, Joy, and Peter Douglas. Jennie and Peter were members of First Baptist Church in Pella where she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle. She was a cheerful person who had a servant's attitude. Jennie taught Sunday school, enjoyed assisting friends in need, and volunteered at church functions. They raised their family on a farm west of Pella where she enjoyed baking home-made buns and pies. Jennie also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Jennie's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jennie is survived by four of her children and their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Muriel Goemaat of Knoxville, two sisters-in-law: Julia Kamerick of Pella, and Sylvia Langstraat of Pella. Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, parents, son Peter John, brothers: John Kamerick, Walter and Billie Kamerick, Martenis and Jo Kamerick; sisters: Henrietta (Layton Mathes) and Henry De Bruin, Bertha and Clifford Mathes, Effie and George De Wit, Marie and Tony Langstraat; and brother-in-law Abe Goemaat.
