Jennie Alma Van Eck Schippers was born to Arie and Jennie (Leydens) Van Eck on August 3, 1921, at the family farm in the Skunk River Valley near Pella. She passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center - Long Term Care Unit on Saturday, January 1, 2011, at the age of eighty-nine.

Jennie was united in marriage with Francis L. Schippers on January 5, 1943. To this union, two sons were born: Jerry and Gene. Francis passed away September 12, 1995, after fifty-two years of marriage.

Jennie enjoyed all kinds of animals and working in her yard. Her favorite place to be was on the farm. Jennie was a member of the Open Bible Church of Pella.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Jerry and his wife Pam Schippers of Pella, Iowa, and Gene and his wife LaDonna Schippers of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; her grandchildren: Eric Schippers, Bradley Schippers, Michael Schippers, and Jamin and Jared Schippers; her great-grandchildren: Dakota, Jordan, Kylie, Justice, and Gage; and her sister: Anna Van Engelenhoven of Pella.

Preceding Jennie in death are her parents; her husband; and her sisters: Cora Leydens and Rena Klyn.
