JoAnn Ruth DeCook was born June 5, 1947, to Elmer and Janet (Hol) Vander Beek, in Pella, Iowa. She passed away on December 9, 2021, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, Iowa.

JoAnn was a 1965 graduate of Pella Community High School. On June 8, 1966, she was united in marriage to Steve DeCook, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Leighton.  To this union they were blessed with two sons Steve and Dave. JoAnn was an event planner and wedding coordinator for over 500 weddings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Steve, and their sons: Steve DeCook of Chewelah, Washington, and Dave DeCook of Ankeny, Iowa. Joan is also survived by her brothers: Robert and Laurie Vander Beek of Bend, Oregon, and Marvin and Anne Vander Beek of Olympia, Washington, and her sister-in-law Joyce and Ron Vandenberg of Pella.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Janet Vander Beek.
