Johanna Esther Hittle was born October 27, 1919, to Cornelius and Irene (VanHaaften) Goemaat, south of Pella. She passed away November 22, 2016, at the Comfort House in Pella.

Johanna grew up in the Pella, Iowa, area. She married Eugene Everett Hittle on August 24, 1941, in Unionville, Missouri. He passed away on October 23, 1966, in Lovilia. Johanna was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Pella for many years.

Johanna is survived by her sister Marie Breese, brothers Clarence Goemaat and Abraham Goemaat, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Johanna was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, parents Cornelius and Irene Goemaat, infant sister Abbie, brother Henry Goemaat, sisters-in-law Janice Goemaat and Marian Goemaat, and brother-in-law Ed Breese.

Distributing Gospel tracts was her passion. She was an avid seamstress and made many quilts. Johanna loved reading her Bible and taught Sunday School for children for many years.
