John Allen Goodyk was born August 26, 1955, to Cornelius "Case" and Esther (Sutton) Goodyk in Mahaska County, Iowa.

John attended Pella Community High School and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 33 years. He also worked at Pella Engraving and the Marketplace.  On October 24, 1975, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Klein. To this union they had two daughters Jessica Marie and Jill Nicole, they later divorced. On August 27, 1986, John was united in marriage to Gloria (Bachman) Gordon in Las Vegas.

John will be remembered for being funny, hardworking, falling asleep anywhere, road-tripping, and having the biggest heart.  In his spare time, John loved to fish, hunt for mushrooms and deer. He also loved playing cribbage, watching the Hawkeyes play and shopping at Hy-Vee, stamp and coin collecting and lottery tickets.

He is also survived by his brother: Darrell (Sheryl) Goodyk, his sister Carol Jansen, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sandy (Dick) Guiter, Gloria Worthington, and Jocelyn (Harlan) Van Wyk, and many nieces, nephews and special life-long friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents Case and Esther Goodyk, and his brothers-in-law: Ed Jansen, Clifford Worthington, and Denny Bachman.
