Obituary

Joyce Elaine Vink was born September 24, 1939, to Martin and Antonia (Bos) Ryken. She passed away January 7, 2025, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa.

Joyce attended Oskaloosa Christian Elementary School and was a 1958 graduate of Pella Christian High School.  On September 26, 1958, she was united in marriage to Arie Vink, Jr. at her parents' home in Otley.  To this union, they were blessed with six children: Arlyn, Mark, Joann, Loraine, Byron and Carolyn.

Joyce enjoyed helping Arie on the farm until 1978, when they moved to town. She also worked with Arie as custodians at Pella Christian High School. After retirement, Arie and Joyce started Vink Lawn Care and in addition to mowing, she worked for the Central College food service. Joyce was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and went to several state and national tournaments. Joyce enjoyed reading, traveling and taking a cruise to England and Western Europe.  Later in life, Joyce enjoyed virtual traveling to many places: every presidential library, the Grand Canyon (5 times), east coast to west coast via I-80, and Route 66, with the RVTV channel. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and music concerts.

Joyce was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Arie Vink, Jr., parents Martin and Antonia Ryken, parents-in-law Arie Sr. and Nellie Vink, son-in-law Greg Van Veldhuizen, daughter-in-law Janet Vink, and great granddaughter Evyn Gentry.
