Karen Diane Courtney was born to Albert and Charlotte (Adams) Van Waardhuizen in Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 12, 1954. Karen graduated from Pella Community High School in 1972. On August 11, 1972 she married Randy Van Weelden and together had three children: Matthew, Katherine and William. Karen later married Jack Courtney on December 11, 2013. Karen lived for her children and grandchildren and was an amazing caregiver to them all. In her spare time Karen enjoyed four-wheeling with her husband Jack, and spending time outdoors gardening. She also had a love of animals and was even a caregiver to a few strays. Karen enjoyed spending time with family during the holidays. She was also a wonderful cook and baked cakes for many birthdays. Karen has been employed at Vermeer in the parts center for 10 years. She is survived by her husband, her three children and grandchildren; mother Charlotte Belt, Knoxville and brother, Rick Van Waardhuizen, Nebraska. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Albert Van Waardhuizen and step-father Donald Belt. Karen will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
