Kathryn Jean (Anway) Crawford was born May 21, 1929, to Harold Anway Sr. and Wilma Dennis in Charles City, Iowa.

On September 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald Crawford Sr. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They met at Iowa State University.

Kathryn was self-employed most of her career as an artist, seamstress, and art teacher, She later worked at Boomsma Egg and Produce and Jaarsma Bakery. Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Kathryn first attended Cedar Rapids High School and later graduated from Iowa State University in the College of Home Economics, with a major in Applied Art.
