Obituary

Larry Leo Lautenbach was born in Pella, Iowa, on March 31, 1941, to Casper John Lautenbach and Pauline Mildred (Redding) Lautenbach. Larry lived in the Pella area and attended Pella schools through the 8th grade. Larry met his future bride, Evelyn "JoAnn" McGinity, in a skating rink in Oskaloosa, and they were married on September 30, 1957, in the Oskaloosa Gospel Tabernacle. He was the love of JoAnn's life. To this union they welcomed two children: Larry and Terri. Larry loved his work and was proud to be a fourth generation home builder. He was a contractor for 60 years until his illness no longer allowed him to continue. He then handed on the learned trade to his son and grandsons. Larry was the patriarch of his family, a trusted advisor and confidant. He was a humble man who put others' needs ahead of his own. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and raising exotic animals. And through it all, Larry was always joking and having fun. On June 1, Larry gave his life to Christ. Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife JoAnn; their two children: Larry (Jody) Lautenbach of Pella, and Terri (Glen) Chapman of Knoxville; five grandchildren: Josh (Julie) Lautenbach, Brandon Lautenbach, Paige Lautenbach, Amanda (Sean) Panknen, and Travis (Karissa) Chapman; and seven great-grandchildren: Cooper Lautenbach, Hayes Lautenbach, Drake Lautenbach, Marlie Lautenbach, Jonathan Panknen, Landon Panknen, and Aiden Chapman; siblings: Carolyn Jeffers, John (Esther) Lautenbach, and Danny (Rose) Lautenbach. Preceding him in death were his parents, Casper and Pauline; his sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Jack McCombs; and brother-in-law, Perry Jeffers.
