Larry Eugene Vos was born on September 27, 1944 in Newton, Iowa to John and Henrietta (Kloostra) Vos. Larry was the youngest of five children. The family lived on a farm near Killduff. When Larry was still a boy, the family moved to Michigan. He lived at Pine Rest, where he helped in the Work Shop.
Larry moved to Pella nearly five years ago, where he lived in the Pella Regional Health Center-Long Term Care Unit. Larry passed away early Sunday morning, February 15, 2009, at the age of 64.
Larry enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics, where he won many trophies. He also enjoyed swimming, bowling, coloring, and making scrapbooks.
Larry will be missed by his two sisters: Leona and her husband Melvin Pothoven of Pella, Iowa, and Anna Mae and her husband Joe Vander Beek of Sully, Iowa; his two brothers: Clarence and his wife Maren Vos of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Ken and his wife Gwen Vos of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta Vos; two step-mothers: Florence (Krul) Vos, and Catherine (Brink) Vos; his stillborn brother, Martin Gene; and two sisters-in-law: Winnifred (Hoekstra) Vos, and Eunice (Vander Well) Vos.
