Obituary

Linda Lou (Bowers) Zegers was born January 13, 1944, to Dean and Nora Belle (Smith) Stacy.  She passed away on March 22, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Linda grew up in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. On July 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Darrell Gene Zegers in Newton, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with four daughters: Deena, Darci, Dori, and Deidra.

Linda's greatest desire was to be a mother and to create for her daughters a better childhood than her own. Linda worked for the Sully Health Center and Pella Regional as a receptionist for many years. In her retirement, she began every day with several cups of coffee and a bear claw (delivered by Darrell) while she read the entire Des Moines Register. She was involved with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Linda enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Sully Garden Thyme Club. She also enjoyed connecting with friends on Face Book, travelling with her cousins and going to California. Linda cherished time with her family and she presided over monthly "Zegers Family Funday" with her kids and grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Darrell and their family:

Deena McNertney

Darci and Kendall Jansen

Maddison  Jansen and Aaron Nance

Delaney and Zach Brimeyer (baby due in April)

Dori Robinson

Posey Robinson

Roan Robinson

Penelope Robinson

Deidra Zegers-Marshall and Jeff Marshall

She is also survived by her sister Dolores Flanders and her brother George Bowers, as well as many family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings: Virginia Lee, Richard Bowers, Stanley Bowers, Roger Bowers, and Nora Jean Shively.
