Obituary

Lisa Jo Akers was born December 6, 1969, to Norman and Wanda (Martin) Kellison, in Kirksville, Missouri.

Lisa was a 1988 graduate of Kirksville Senior High, and Northeast Missouri State University, majoring in English.

On September 11, 1993, she was united in marriage to Steve Akers. They were blessed with two sons: Derrick and Benjamin. When they were first married, Lisa was the Lifestyles Editor for a newspaper. After following Steve's job with Hy-Vee to Pella, she worked with preschoolers at Lincoln School, Midwest Sanitation, and most recently she worked for Tulip City Agency. Lisa made a beautiful home in Pella for their family, and she loved to cook and host people in their home. She also enjoyed giving everyone the perfect gift. In her spare time, Lisa enjoyed scrapbooking and photography. Most of all, she loved her family, and spending time together for family game night, and watching her favorite sports teams.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Steve, their sons: Derrick and Delaney Akers of Waterloo, and Ben Akers and fiancée Vonnie Pratt of Orange City, her parents-in-law Ernie and Dee Akers, and Lois Akers, her siblings: Patricia (the late Bob) Allen, Peggy (Ronnie) Comley, Kathy (Bill) McCarty, Ted (Lynn) Kellison, and Steve's siblings: Jim (Mendi) Akers, Matt (Vanessa) Akers, Valerie (Bryan) Stuart, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her newest addition to the family, her dog Dawson.

Lisa is preceded in death by her parents Norman and Wanda Kellison.
