Lloyd Van
Zante
September 21, 1924 – July 24, 2015
Lloyd Eugene Van Zante was born at his family's farm in Pella, on September 21, 1924, to William T. and Angelina (Grandia) Van Zante. Lloyd graduated from Pella High School. He joined the Army on March 1945, proudly served our country for eighteen months, and was a member of the American Legion. Lloyd met Nettie at a skating party at Central College and they married on March 29, 1946, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. To this union they welcomed two sons: Bill and Rick. Lloyd was a member of First Reformed Church in Pella, his entire life and served on the consistory as a deacon and an elder. Lloyd and Nettie raised their family in a Christian home, and leave a legacy of being a good husband and father. He was a great mentor for both farming and life. Lloyd farmed his entire life in the Pella area, and would tell you that farmers don't retire. Those left to cherish his memory are: Wife - Nettie Van Zante of Pella Children, Grandchildren, and Great-Grandchildren - Bill and Sara Van Zante of St. Augustine, Florida Carrie and Jamie Reddy Courtney, Carlee Katie and Paul Fleming Matthew, Michael, Maxwell Andrew and Tiffany Van Zante Brittany, Cody, Rylie Kelsey Van Zante Rick and Joan Van Zante of Pella Christina and Scott Marlow Payton, Cadynce, Beckym Chelsea and Josh Cowman Lake, Harper, Maechen, Willow Brandyn and Emily Van Zante Bray-Lynne, Barclay, Broderyck Lloyd was survived by his wife of 69 years, his two sons, seven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Joey (Dale) Van Ommen, and his brother-in-law, Paul Jr. (Kathryn) Simons. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, William and Angelina; brother, Arthur, in infancy; sisters: Gladys (John) Van Dyk, Ethel (Ray) Gosselink, Clara (Hubert) Thorson, and Freda (Jeff) Hoeksema. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law: Leonard (Norma) Simons, and Herman (Virginia) Simons.
