Obituary

Logan Ray Ver Ploeg was born on March 7, 1923 to John G. and Cornelia Langerak Ver Ploeg on the family farm south of Pella. He went to his eternal home Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of eighty-nine.

Logan received his early education at the Porterville Country School located near his home where he completed the eighth grade.

On February 12, 1947, he was united in marriage with Wilma Steenhoek near Reasnor, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Duane, Karen, and Marilyn.

Logan farmed his family Century Farm all his life. He served on various farm related boards and committees: Coop Board, Zoning Board, Marion County Cattleman, Farm Bureau, Marion County Pork Producers, Porterville School Board, and was a 4H member. He also sold PAG/Cargill Seed Corn. Logan and Wilma were members of the First Reformed Church in Pella where he was a member of the Golden Hour Sunday School Class.

Logan enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, going to hog and cattle shows and sales, camping at the State Fair, sitting on the front porch, and later in life visiting the farm.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Wilma; his three children and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Logan is preceded in death by: his parents, John and Cornelia Ver Ploeg; his parents-in-law, James and Gertie Steenhoek; his sister and brother-in-law: Eleanor and Harry Gaass; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harvey and Florence Steenhoek and Neil and Gladys Woody.
