Loyd Ralph William Ray was born June 6, 1938 to Brown and Ruby Glozier Ray in Dyersburg, Tennessee. He passed away at his residence in Pella, Iowa on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, 2008 at the age of seventy.

Loyd received his GED at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. On December 1, 1957 he entered the United States military serving in the Navy until 1965.

On June 1, 1967 Loyd was united in marriage with Dorothy Margaret Schuck in Watervliet, Michigan.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Dorothy; his children and their spouses: Kenneth and Kathy Archer, Brenda and Danny Beaver, Alisa and Rodney Reed, Angie Smith, Darla and Robert De la Vega, Mary and Bill Gilbertson, Shirley and Randy Miller, Susan and Noel Walker, and Joy and Bill Crall; thirty-three grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Ray of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three sisters: Joyce Robertson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mary Ruth Johnson of Dyersburg, Tennessee, and Mildred George of Whitedeer, Texas.
