Lucille Marie Bills was born June 17, 1940, to Loyd W. and Ellen (Alber) Baker, in Knox City, Missouri. On December 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Roy Otis Bills in Centerville, Iowa. To this union they were blessed with ten children.
She worked at Wal-Mart for 23 years, but her favorite job was being a teacher to her children, teaching them to behave and knowing right from wrong. She was active in their lives by being a 4-H leader, softball coach, and various volunteer work. She also loved having her grandchildren around her and watching them in their activities.
She was a director of religious education at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Haverhill, Iowa, and taught religious education for many years. Her faith was an important part of her life that she passed down to her family. She was a member of St. Monica Study Club where she made strong life-long friendships. Once moving to Pella, she was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Lucille loved attending Knights of Columbus State Conventions with Roy, wintering in Donna, Texas, bowling, dancing, traveling, and she had a passion for playing cards and all types of games.
Her home was always a welcome place where many have gathered around her table to enjoy her great cooking and conversation. She treasured family gatherings. She decorated her home for all seasons with Christmas being her favorite. She loved her collections of bells, clocks, lamps, cups, and milk glass.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Roy O. Bills; children, Sally (Chuck) Fay, Vista, CA, Ronald (Cyndi) Bills, West Union, IA, Robert (Angela) Bills, Marion, IA, Richard (Deborah) Bills, Paducah, KY, Susan (Jeff) Blackford, Marshalltown, IA, Steven (Jennifer Jenson) Bills, Marshalltown, IA, Sharon (Rick) McCombs, Oskaloosa, IA, Diane Klinker (friend Megan Sanders), Montezuma, IA, Deborah (Seth) McElroy, State Center, IA, Kevin (Kallie) Bills, Council Bluffs, IA; thirty-seven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two great grandchildren on the way, a brother Donald Baker, a sister-in-law Evelyn Macaluso, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd and Ellen Baker, her sister Helen Foster, her brother Lawrence Baker, her brothers-in-law Andrew Foster and Salvatore Macaluso, her sisters-in-law M. DeVee Baker and Angelina Baker, her daughter-in-law Brandie Bills, her grandchild Rebecca Lyn Bills, her great grandchild Daniel L. Hofer III, and several other loved ones.
