Obituary

Marjorie Van Genderen was born September 22, 1923, to Marinus J. and Maggie (Goemaat) De Zwarte in Taintor, Iowa. She passed away at The Cottages in Pella on October 24, 2017.

Marjorie grew up in the Lynnville area and attended Reiter Country School in southern Jasper County.  Marjorie married her next door neighbor, Lester Paul Van Genderen on January 9, 1945, at her parents home near Lynnville.  To this union they were blessed with three sons: Gary, Melvin and Dennis. Marjorie worked in the cafeteria at Lynnville-Sully Schools for 27 years.

Marjorie was a member of First Reformed Church in Sully and enjoyed participating in sewing days and Just Us Neighbors Club.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents, and her siblings: Leona (John) Van Manen, Bernard (Wilma) De Zwarte, and Reva (Clarence) Van Wyk.  She is also preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Gerret and Maggie Van Genderen, and her siblings-in-law: Ann (Wilbur) Schnell, Bill (Wilma) Van Genderen, Jean (Evelyn) Van Genderen, and Gerald Van Genderen.
