Obituary

Martha was born January 21, 1921, to George and Martha (Van Snippenberg) Rozenboom. She was the 11th of 12 children. Her childhood was spent in various places in Mahaska County. She graduated from 8th grade at the Lacey school. She received her high school diploma in 1981 after taking the GED course with Marvin and Martie.

On April 14, 1942, Martha was united in marriage to William De Boef at her parents' home in Wright, Iowa. They were blessed with 12 children. Bill and Martha farmed most of their life. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Her days were spent cooking, canning, gardening, doing laundry, cleaning, and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She exemplified Philippians 4:11, "For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." She found her strength on her knees.

Martha was a faithful member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church. She has been involved as a Sunday school teacher, a Friendship Bible mentor, a Bible study correspondent with prisoners, and a member of the women's Bible study group. She also taught English as a second language to Laotian immigrants.

Those left to cherish her memory are 11 of her children; 41 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; spouses, 1 great-great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Gysbert Rozenboom and Gerald (Clarissa) Rozenboom; brother-in-law, Dale Veldhuizen; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, William; her parents and parents-in-law; her son Jim; three children-in-law, Gracia De Boef, Bob Gagestein, and Ron Menninga; and nine siblings.
