Martha Jean Jones was born November 21, 1956, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Lawrence and Aleta (Bunting) Kiefer. She passed away November 16, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Martha grew up in Hedrick, Iowa, and was a 1975 graduate of Hedrick Community High School. She attended Indian Hills Community College for Clerical and Accounting, worked for Rolscreen and later became a CNA. Martha was previously married to Steve Slagle and Dan Jones.

Martha was known for her caring nature, especially caring for her clients, but most of all her family. She was also the one who organized family gatherings for everyone. Her favorite pastime was nature and eagle watching. She liked to play games, cook, and tend to her flower gardens. She loved her pets Squirta and Kieta.

Those left to cherish her memory are her companion Brian Roose, and her siblings: Jim and Sharon Kiefer, Larry and Jan Kiefer, Elsie and Gary Grimm, David and Trudy Kiefer, Joyce and Royal Smith, and Judy Nace and Joe Kozelichki; and many nieces and nephews.

Those preceding her in death are her parents, sister-in-law Jill Kiefer, and nephew Todd Kiefer.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
