IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin De
Zwarte
December 2, 1934 – February 3, 2025
Marvin Eugene De Zwarte was born December 2, 1934, to Abraham "Abe" and Jacoba (Van Oenen) De Zwarte at his parent's farm home, three miles south of Pella. He attended Pleasant Grove country school and graduated from Pella Community High School.
Marvin and Mary Vis were united in marriage on March 11, 1955. To this union they were blessed with three children: Michael Eugene, Gayle Lynn, and Sandra Kay. Mary passed to glory on March 11, 2022. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage.
Marvin was baptized and made profession of faith at First Christian Reformed Church in Pella where he served as a Cadet counselor, as a deacon and as an elder.
Marv and Mary became charter members of Covenant Reformed Church in Pella. Marv was a member of the building steering committee for the site selection and oversight of the new building construction. He also served as an elder at Covenant Reformed Church.
Marv worked at Rolscreen (Pella Corp) for 43 years, retiring in 1997. In retirement he kept busy doing volunteer work including maintenance projects for others and driving people to their medical appointments. He was a volunteer for Legacy Thrift (Bibles for Missions) for many years.
Marvin served 11 years in the United States Naval Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1964.
Fulfilling a desire to become a pilot, Marv received his single engine license in 1979. He enjoyed giving airplane rides to family and friends.
Marv enjoyed God's creation while boating, fishing and camping along the Des Moines River and often shared those experiences with family members.
