Mary Lois (Schmidt) Vande Krol was born in Lynnville, Iowa, to Francis J. and Lenora May (Kooistra) Schmidt on April 16, 1927. Mary Lois graduated from Lynnville High School and lived most of her life in the Lynnville Sully area. Mary Lois was united in marriage with Earl Vande Krol on May 23, 1945, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Phyllis, Wes, and Marilyn. Mary Lois was a member of the Sully Community Church and enjoyed many years of teaching Bible studies. She was an avid reader and librarian. She also enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, and sewing. Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her brother, Fred (Helen) Schmidt of Lynnville, sister, Norma Conover of Lynnville, and sister-in-law Rose Mary Schmidt. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Barbara Sexton; brother, Sam Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Bruce Conover and Bob Sexton; great-grandson, David Ellerbe and great-grand daughter Angela Hackert.
