Mary Jane Vander Hoek was born on March 17, 1946, to Vernon and Mary Turner Klein in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She grew up in the Monroe area and attended Monroe High School with the class of 1964.
On April 27, 1962, Janie was united in marriage with Arlie Jean Vander Hoek at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons: Mike and Joel.
Janie loved being a housewife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing with friends, working in her flower garden, and caring for her beloved cats.
Her memory is shared by: her son, Mike, and his girlfriend, Julie Keegel; four grandchildren: Micheal Vander Hoek, Ashley Vander Hoek, Jake Vander Hoek, and Zak Vander Hoek. Janie is also survived by her siblings and their spouses: Robert and Bert Klein of Hastings, Minnesota and Judy and Carl Wilson of Monroe.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arlie, in 2010, and her son, Joel, in 2001.
