Michael James Norman was born June 1, 1970, in Mason City, Iowa. He passed away on February 5, 2024, at the Comfort House in Pella.

Mike attended elementary school in Iowa City, and Ackley-Geneva and was a 1988 graduate of Hampton High School, where he met Sheila Maise. They were married on April 5, 1991, and had two children together: Brandon and Haley. They divorced in 2021. Soon after, Mike met his love, who he spent his final years with, Alethea Wiedenhoff.

Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 5, 1988, in Orlando, Florida, earned the rank of E5 – Petty Officer Second Class, and was honorably discharged in June 1994, in Bremerton, Washington. Mike worked for the City of Pella Electric Department for nearly 30 years as the Operations Superintendent. Mike loved bowling and shared his love of the sport with the Pella High School Bowling Team, where he served as head coach for a few years. He also loved watching his favorite teams the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears. He was also a big hockey fan. In his spare time he loved to cook and try new recipes with his loved ones, while enjoying a tall glass of Samuel Adams.

Sisters: Kara (Colt) Powers of Hampton, Iowa

Lindsay (OP) Hansen of Sheffield, Iowa

Bowling Sons: Tyler VerMeer, Chris Gragg and Jacob Rogers

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents: Marvin and R. Jean Smith, and Delbert and Bonnie Norman.
